Fall marks the transition from summer to winter, and with that comes a variety of natural beauty and change: days are shorter but crisper; full moons light up the night sky; animals stock up on food before the winter; leaves change from green to brilliant yellows, reds and oranges; and pinecones grow heavy enough to fall from their parent trees and disperse their seeds.
Take a stroll around woodlands with pine trees and collect fallen pinecones for some of these innovative craft projects; incorporating nature into your home really is a fantastic way to celebrate the season.

1. Halloween Spider
If you’re still in need of some last-minute Halloween decorations you can make a quick spider with just a pinecone, pipe cleaners and eyes; hang these from a tree or even in doorways.
2. Thanksgiving Turkey
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so here’s a fitting little turkey craft to get the kids involved. It’s easy enough for them to make and will make a great addition to the dinner table or mantelpiece.
3. Mini Christmas Tree
We aren’t all that into excessive Christmas decorations: some may look forward to lighting up the entire house all year long, while others prefer a more subtle approach. For the latter, this pinecone-turned-Christmas tree may be the perfect little craft to introduce a hint of the giving season.
4. Wreath
While we’re on the subject of Santa’s favorite time of year, why not make your own pinecone wreath for the front door or above the fireplace? There are a lot of ways to make one of these but we’ve found the simplest way out there.
5. Festive Lighting
If you have a decorative chandelier or light fixture, you can easily just dangle some painted pinecones for a nice festive feel. It’s so simple to do, yet it adds such a nice touch.
6. Topiary with a Twist
This beautiful topiary would look great outside in the garden or at the door entrance and practically anywhere inside. The trick to making the pinecones resemble roses is to let them dry out so that they open up.
7. Colorful Display
The delicate shape of a pinecone really lends itself to simplistic decoration. You can dip them in paint or even spray paint them, just make sure you get full coverage. Display them in a glass vase or bowl to brighten up any area of your home.
8. Crafty Candle Holder
This is one of those awesome projects that’s extremely simple yet so very effective. Try to mix and match with different-sized pinecones; you could also paint them gold for added effect.
9. Pinecone Garland
A rustic garland like this really adds a sense of warm, cozy charm to your home as the temperatures begin to drop. You can even give it your own touch by adding in some ribbon, greenery or whatever elements spring to mind.
10. Light Arrangement
This flowery string light craft is an absolutely stunning example of the art of repurposing. It would make for a fabulous centerpiece on a dinner table and can set the mood even better than candles would.
