What Do I Use For the Stork Body?
Making this stork is really easy. You can use whatever you have around the house. I am using makeup wipes. Do you know those little cotton pads that you use to remove your makeup at the end of the day? They are cheap, already on hand, and perfect for this project!
If you do not have these on hand you can use whatever you do have. You can cut circles out of paper, plastic, cardboard, felt, or even foam. This is just a guide for you to get a design idea. You can customize your stork using supplies you already have on hand.

How to Hang Homemade Baby Shower Decor?
You can use string, ribbon, or even a fishing line to hang your stork baby shower decor. I like to use a fishing line because it is clear and not as noticeable. You will want to make sure that you tie the string or ribbon in a knot so that it is secure and will not come undone.
You can also add a small piece of fabric, padding, or paper to create a hook. Then you can attach the stork baby shower decor on the walls or the door.

Ways to Give a Stork Decoration Personality?
You can give your stork baby shower decor personality by adding paint, glitter, tulle, or anything else you can think of. Use ribbons and tulle to show whether the stork is for a girl or a boy. Adding a baseball cap is easy and can be made from fabric or paper. Another way to add personality to the stork craft is by using different colors of paint or glitter. You can even add googly eyes to make the stork come alive.
What All Can I Use This For?
The stork baby shower decor can be used as a decoration for the baby shower or as a take-home present for the guests. But that isn't all! Below are a few more ideas that we love and think are ideal for this project.
- Tie or glue to a long string or ribbon and create a garland for your table. You could even use this for a gender reveal party and make every other stork pink or blue.
- Add to a photo booth as a prop for the shower. I love these for getting candid and fun shots of guests. Along the same lines, use a solid-colored sheet or backdrop, and attach several of these on it as a fun photo booth back.
- Use them to identify different food items on the buffet table. Just place a card on their center that states the food name.
- If having a sit-down meal at the shower, you can use these on basic napkin rings, or even hold name placeholders.
Lastly, since this is a fun little keepsake that any mom-to-be can cherish forever, save one and give it to her after the shower to go into the baby book. You could even gather a few other decorations and a copy of the invitation and create a fun shadowbox for the mom-to-be to remember the shower.

How to Make a Stork Baby Shower Decoration
To start this project, you'll make a circle on black paper to create the stork's clothes with later. Once you have this traced and cut out, fold it in half and set it aside.
Then, you will make the beak of the stork by folding a small strip of red paper in half, then cutting one end into a point/triangle. Set this aside.
Now, create the stork body by gluing a dowel rod to the center of a cotton pad. Then glue the peak on the outside edge of that pad. Then, top it with another cotton pad.
Now, about 1" below that, you will glue another cotton pad and a second to sandwich the dowel between them as before.
Now, glue that original black circle you folded onto the bottom of the bottom cotton round. It should be on the opposite side as you glued the beak above.
Cover the dowel with pipe cleaners to give it a seamless look. Then, cut the yarn for making the bow around the neck. I used two colors of small string and twisted then tied them into a bow. You could also use a miniature already-made bow if you prefer.
Lastly, you will add an eye on the head, just above the beak of the stork.
