The Christmas Tree Double French Braid and Ribbon hairstyle is a versatile look that suits a wide range of ages and personal styles. It's perfect for those who love to express their holiday spirit in a unique and fashionable way. This hairstyle is especially ideal for individuals with medium to long hair looking to add a festive flair to their appearance.
The braided side ponytail is another good idea if you want your hair fully pulled off your neck instead of just partial or half-up. There are tons of ways to create a unique hairstyle without taking a ton of extra time for it to happen!
WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE THIS CHRISTMAS TREE HAIRSTYLE
One of my favorite things about this particular holiday hairstyle is that you don't need a lot of products or tools to pull it off. In fact, a hairbrush and bobby pins can do the trick. I do like having additional hair bands and a decorative pin or two on hand, but they aren't always needed.
TOOLS I USE
While this particular double french braid tutorial doesn't require a lot of tools, I do have a collection of items that I recommend having on hand. How to Create a Christmas Tree with Double French Braid and Ribbon Look
This style works on any hair texture and most lengths. You can create this look with both freshly washed, clean hair, and slightly dirty hair.
Part your hair on the side or on your natural part. Start this hairstyle by combing your hair and removing any tangles.
STEP 1
Gather the top half of your hair into a ponytail.
STEP 2
Split the pony tail in half with the remaining "down" hair.
STEP 3
With right half of your hair, french braid to the base of your head, angling to the right. Tie off the french braid with an elastic hair band.
STEP 4
Repeat the french braid on the left side of the head, this time, angling to the left. Tie off the french braid with an elastic hair band.
STEP 5
With a darning needle and green ribbon, work the ribbon under the pony tail at the top of the braids.
STEP 6
Wrap the ribbon around the pony tail at the top of the braids to conceal the elastic. Make sure the ribbon has equal length on both right and left sides.
STEP 7
Working in a lacing fashion like you would lace shoes, thread the ribbon from left to right and right to left, crossing over in the center, following the innermost edge of each braid to the base of your head.
STEP 8
Wrap the loose ends of the ribbon around the elastic at the ends of each braid and thread through the ends.
STEP 9
Add a bow at the top of the "tree" formed with the ribbon. And you're done!
What Can I Add to This Braided Hairstyle To Make it Look Different?
To make your Christmas Tree Double French Braid hairstyle stand out even further, consider these unique additions:
- Festive Hairpins and Clips: Beyond ribbons, incorporating themed hairpins or clips shaped like stars, snowflakes, or even miniature reindeer can add a playful element to your hairstyle. Place them strategically within the braids or at the top of your 'tree' for a starry effect.
- Glitter and Temporary Color Sprays: For an extra shimmer that catches the light beautifully, a dusting of hair-safe glitter or a spritz of temporary color spray in silver, gold, or green can elevate your look to magical holiday heights.
- Natural Elements: Small sprigs of real holly or mistletoe can be intertwined within the braids, bringing a touch of nature to your ensemble. Just ensure any sharp edges are trimmed or covered to avoid snagging.
- Fabric Flowers: Fabric flowers in red, white, or poinsettia patterns can be woven into or pinned along the braids, creating a floral array that mimics Christmas wreaths.
Each of these elements allows you to personalize your hairstyle, ensuring that your festive look is as unique as your holiday spirit. Experiment with different combinations to find the perfect festive flair that matches your Christmas vibe.
The Christmas Tree Double French Braid and Ribbon hairstyle is the quintessential decorative 'do that's bound to light up any room during the holiday season.
