Bottle Cap Snowman Ornaments
Okay, I confess. I love snow and I love snowmen. Both real and fake! So, making easy little bottle cap snowman ornaments was a must this year. We often have bottle caps from beer bottles or soda on hand.
So, why not put them to use? After washing them up, I found out they are super easy to punch holes into and knew they had to be ideal for this craft.
If you want more snowman ideas for your decorations you need to check out some of my other favorites. Start with this mason jar lid snowman ornament for your tree.
Then, this popsicle stick snowman craft is a great addition to your mantle right next to my snowman made out of a bottle. I love the winter snow theme this year and have even added these cute flower pot snowmen to my decorations.
Where Can I Get Bottle Caps?
If you don't drink beer or soda with bottle caps, then you may need to go looking for them to use in this craft. One of my favorite places to find extra is a local restaurant.
They often just throw them away, but you can request that they save them for you to pick up. This usually only works if you are pretty familiar with the owners and staff.
Another way to get bottle caps is to look at your local craft store. Hobby Lobby, Michael's, JoAnn's, and of course, Amazon online all have bottle caps inexpensively in bulk for crafting.
Just check out the prices and buy in bulk if you plan to use them for more than one craft.
Continue the snowman theme with these snowman porch decorations or handmade snowman decorations to go on your mantle. Of course, while you are working on decor, you might want to make snowman sugar cookies and some of this slow cooker white hot chocolate.
Supplies Needed
- Bottle caps
- Wire
- Satin ribbon
- White spray paint
- Holiday decorations or embellishments
- Hammer
- Tool for creating holes
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue
How to Make a Snowman Out of Bottle Caps?
To begin, you will need to make holes in your bottle caps. You can use a sharp tool and hammer to make the hole. I used a pointed screwdriver and hammer to do this.
Now, you will spray paint the bottle caps white and set them aside to dry.
When the bottle caps are completely dry, you will use the crafting wire and cut it into small pieces to put through the holes in the bottle caps and twist to connect them together. Add a slightly longer piece of wire to the top hole for adding a hanger later.
Now you can make a face on the bottle caps with a black marker. You can draw a nose shape on the top bottle cap and color it orange inside.
You will also use the marker to make buttons down the front of the bottle caps.
Next, wrap a piece of ribbon right under the first bottle cap and use a hot glue gun and glue to secure it.
Add a small Christmas decoration or embellishment to it.
Tie a piece of rustic ribbon on the top to hang from the tree.
Now, you can add it to your Christmas tree.
