This is another fun repurposing craft idea that is just too cute! This bunny in an egg is a perfect mini Easter decoration to make with your kids! A simple printable, a cute little egg, and some fake grass suddenly become a super adorable little decoration. Grab the supplies and make this cute idea in just a few minutes!
Bunny in an Egg Mini Easter Decoration
I confess. In a box in my basement, there are hundreds of plastic Easter eggs that I have collected over the years. Some of these are reused year to year for kids to hunt. Others have come from various treats or candy and I just keep meaning to use them. I even have a bag of special ones that have different unique designs or themes to take to church for their annual egg hunts.
With so many plastic eggs on hand, I loved the idea of making my own unique decoration. This little printable Easter bunny easily slips inside this plastic egg to create a super cute idea that can be super versatile for many decorations.
What Kind of Egg Should I Use For This?
You can buy a larger plastic egg in the holiday decor aisle of your local craft store, or you can do like I did, and simply look through what you have on hand. The only requirement of this egg is that it needs to be clear so your bunny inside the egg can be seen easily.
I used a fairly large egg, but if you can't or don't have one on hand, you can do this same thing with regular or even smaller eggs. Just adjust the size of the bunny you print and add to the egg so it fits.
How do You Display This Egg?
This is my favorite part of all the crafts I make. Figuring out just where to add it to our house! For this egg, you can use it in a number of fun ways and my favorites are listed below for your convenience.
- Add it to your child's Easter basket as a fun decoration.
- Hang it from a holiday tree.
- Glue onto a wreath.
- Put alongside other decor items on your mantle.
- Sit alongside other decorations on a table centerpiece.
- Printed paper bunny (There is one on this printable bunny page that can be printed and cut to fit)
- Large plastic Easter egg
- Fake moss or grass
- Artificial flowers
- Hot glue gun with hot glue sticks or hot glue rope
How to Make a Bunny in an Egg Decoration
Start by attaching twine around the lid or base you choose for your egg. If your egg doesn't have a base, you can use an old soda bottle lid.
Wrap twine around the base until it is completely covered and glue in place.
Cut out the paper bunny you choose for inside the egg.
Glue the paper bunny to the moss.
Glue the moss inside the egg and close the egg.
Now, you will glue the egg to the plastic base.
Place the egg on top of the base and hold in place until secure.
Cut out and tie a bow of ribbon then glue to the top of the bunny.
Add a flower to the middle of the ribbon.
Now you can display your bunny in an egg for Easter!
If you don't have an Easter egg to use for this craft, you could also use any glass or plastic jar with a lid. Just glue the moss and bunny to the lid, and then screw the jar in place. I love these little slime jars for things like this. They are affordable and really versatile for crafting.
- Start by gluing twine around the base for your egg;
- Now, you will cut out a paper bunny;
- Glue the paper bunny to fake moss;
- Add the moss and bunny to the egg and glue it shut;
- Glue the egg to the base;
- Make a small bow from ribbon and glue to the top of the egg;
- Add a small artificial flower to the middle of the bow;
- Now your bunny is ready to display!
You can also use a miniature bunny figurine instead of the paper one inside your egg.
