Reindeer Christmas Ball Ornament

If you are like me, you have a box of random Christmas ball ornaments that get stuck into empty places on the tree year after year. They aren’t really the star of the show as much as a way to fill in the gaps.

This year, I wanted to add something a bit more fun with them, and thus was born the homemade Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer Christmas ball ornament you see below!

This shiny little guy is super easy to throw together and a great craft for the kids to help make. While I use hot glue for most of my projects, this is one that any craft glue or even Elmer’s glue could easily secure for your kids to make safely.

If you are looking for another idea for kids, this Rudolph paper plate craft for kids is a great solution! So cute and easy to make.

Where Can I Find Solid Gold Christmas Balls?

My favorite place to find extra Christmas ornaments, but especially these gold balls, is at my local Dollar Tree. Mine had these in 10-packs for only $1!

That’s ideal for if you are using this craft as one to make with the kids or a classroom. You can also find these at Walmart, Target, and of course, any of your favorite craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s.

As long as you are shopping at Dollar Tree, grab some of the battery-operated LED tealights to make these cute 3D Santa and snowman ornaments. They are so cute, and the lights are super cheap there.

Check for holiday-themed paper straws for making paper straw mini Christmas trees while there. I love that they often have holiday-themed paper goods.

I also love my Dollar Tree for craft sticks to make things like this simple snowman photo ornament or these simple snowman ornaments out of clear balls. There are so many places to find Christmas balls and fun ways to use them!

How to Make a Reindeer Christmas Ornament

For this craft, you will begin by creating antlers for your reindeer. I made mine from gold pipe cleaners, but you can also use brown or black if you prefer.

Next, you will glue these antlers to the top of the ornament, one on each side of the hanger.

Once this is dry, you can attach your googly eyes with glue.

Once the antlers are in place, you will then glue on the red pom pom to make the nose. Center this on one side of the ornament and attach with hot glue.

Your ornament is now ready to hang on the tree!
