Have you gone through your closet lately? I just did, and I found more old T-shirts than I ever could have imagined. I thought about taking them all to the thrift store, but as I went through them, I remembered all the reasons I’ve held onto them. Some are sentimental and remind me of some special time in my life. Others just have a great color, and I haven’t really found anything to replace them.
Now I don’t have to feel so guilty about keeping all these old shirts! I just found a video that teaches me some cool upcycling ideas. And yes, I’ve already posted a few T-shirt repurposing ideas in the past, like this idea to convert an old T-shirt into a cute peplum top, or this project to make a rug. Those are cool, but I’ve already done them! I needed more!
Video Tutorials
This video rocks! You’ll learn how you can dip-dye a shirt that still fits to upgrade your look, and how you can convert a shirt that doesn’t fit into a pretty hair band or even a functional handbag! All of these looks are carefree and easy and perfect for summer, and many of them don’t require a stitch of sewing (phew, what a relief). This also makes them great projects to do with your kids. Okay, it’s time for me to hop off the computer and start in on some of these amazing T-shirt projects. Have fun giving old T-shirts new life!
Bonus Idea

This is an adorable t-shirt dress that you can make in just about 2 hours and for less than $5. What could be better than that? You just have to buy an oversized t-shirt or use one that you already have. This is a really cute way to get a summer dress without spending a small fortune. The tutorial is at Diary of a Mad Crafter, and it tells you exactly how to make it. There is just a little cutting and very little sewing involved, and you can decorate it however you want. Make several of these for the upcoming summer. They’re inexpensive and really cute!

I love taking my re-usable bags to the store and it is even more rewarding when some of the stores give back a bag credit for bringing in our own bags.
