Cute Valentine’s Day Cupid’s Arrow Craft

January 15, 2020 By Katie Hale Leave a Comment

Collage of cupid's arrow pencil

As a kid, I remember getting Valentine’s pencil cupid’s arrow from my teacher every year on Valentine’s Day. Of course, I had to recreate this myself as a fun and easy craft to gift to the kids in my son’s classroom at school! Pencils, foam paper, scissors, and a bit of ribbon and you have a wonderfully simple Valentine.

Valentine’s Pencil Cupid’s Arrow

This Valentine’s Day pencil craft is a perfect choice for making in a hurry for your kids. I love that they are easy, inexpensive, and mostly, adorable. Adding a simple tag on a ribbon is a great way to personalize the tag if desired. You can write or print individual names on each one so that the kids feel even more special.

This is a great gift that you can add into a gift bag for kids, or just as a stand-alone gift taped on top of a candy bar or box of chocolates. I love the idea of sticking some of these inside this vase of glitter heart flowers. They would be super cute!

Use leftover foam paper for making this cute framed hearts craft idea. A perfect way to add beautiful decor to your home around Valentine’s Day.

What Can I Use for A Gift Tag?

For this craft, I printed some hearts with a little quote on them off on regular copy paper. Then, I glued those in place on cardstock to attach to this pencil. You can easily print off or even draw a simple name tag to go on this. Use the hole punch, and string a ribbon through them to attach easily.

You can use any simple printed gift tag you want. Some I think would be cute are these cupid valentine cards. Simply make them, and attach the pencil. What a great idea for combining two crafts into one easy one! You could also use this mustache valentine card as a way to add personalization to your cupid’s arrow pencil.

How to Make a Pencil Cupid’s Arrow

Begin by tracing and cutting out hearts from the red glitter paper.

Cutting out hearts for cupid pencil

Once you cut out one, you can use it as a template for the rest of the hearts needed. You’ll want one for each pencil.

Red foam heart

Next, you will cut out a rectangle of silver foam paper. You will need one of these per pencil.

Attaching silver foam paper to pencil

Now, you will place the rectangle of silver foam toward the top of the pencil, with a small gap by the eraser end.

Trimming silver foam paper into arrow shape

Cut the rectangle at angles to create the “fringe” look expected on an arrow. Cut the piece into a pointed end, then slice through to the middle at an angle to create the look.

Next, glue or attach your heart at the bottom of the pencil toward the end you would sharpen.

Adding red heart to bottom of pencil

A final step is to add a gift tag to the pencil. I used a simple cut out heart and attach with ribbon.
