My Halloween spider bowl is one of the best and easiest Halloween party decorations you can make. It literally takes minutes, and only a few supplies. A black bowl, straws, googly eyes, and glue are all you need to make this fun craft that holds popcorn or candy.
This bottle cap spider Halloween craft is another great idea to make and place around this larger party bowl decoration. It would make the bowl look like the parent to all of the little spiders!
Halloween Spider Party Decoration
Simple party decorations are my favorite kind! Especially when they are those last-minute needed items that suddenly come together to create a super fun craft idea. One year I needed an extra serving bowl for popcorn at our Halloween party. I didn't want to put it in a plain bowl out of my cabinet. So, I grabbed one of the plastic black bowls and turned it into this super cute Halloween spider-themed bowl.
Only 5 minutes and a bit of glue, and I had the perfect bowl for our popcorn!
What can I Serve in My New Halloween Party Bowl?
Because the legs on this are just simple straws, I wouldn't add anything terribly heavy to the bowl. I have used it for popcorn, pretzels, and a few pieces of candy. If you want to use it for heavier snacks like dips, cheese cubes, or candy bars, you will want to add a sturdier base.
Protip: Adding a smaller bowl underneath the large bowl can serve as a way to steady it for heavier items. A smaller black bowl fits perfectly and can simply be glued to the bottom of the spider. Since they are the same color, it won't change the look from a spider.
What Type of Straws is Best for this Craft?
I used basic plastic straws for the legs on my Halloween spider bowl. Paper straws would also work, but wouldn't hold up very long before they buckled under the weight of the bowl and popcorn.
If you have metal straws on hand, you could tape them to the bottom of the bowl instead of gluing them. This way the bowl would be more secure without ruining good staws you want to use again.
Fun upgrade: If you use plastic straws, consider spraying them with glitter spray before attaching. They will shimmer like some spiders actually do in nature.

How to Make a Halloween Spider Party Bowl
To begin, make sure you have all of your supplies ready at your work station.
Next, you will flip your black bowl over so the bottom is facing up. Use hot-glue to attach your straws.
Four straws will go on each side of the bowl.
Once the glue has dried, flip the bowl back over so it now stands on the legs.
Glue the eyes to the center top of the bowl between the sets of legs.
You can add a smaller bowl underneath to stabilize for serving heavier items, or leave as is and use just as a Halloween decoration.
