Easy Homemade DIY Gel Air Freshener Recipe

Don’t you just love those gel candles? You know the ones that you don’t actually burn but they smell great. You get to enjoy a great scent without having to actually light a candle so they are a bit safer than traditional candles.

We have a great DIY recipe for you to make your own gel air fresheners and if you keep a lid on them when you are not using them, the scent will last for a few weeks.

You need to bring ½ cup of water to a steady boil. Once boiling, add 1 package of gelatin mix and stir well to dissolve. Add another ½ cup of cool water and stir well again. Now add 1/8 teaspoon of vodka and about ½ teaspoon of an essential oil of your choosing and stir until well mixed.

Pour this liquid into a glass jar to allow the candle to set. You can now enjoy your own gel candle in your favorite scent. These are great for traveling and again, if you keep a lid on them when you are not using them the scent will last a long, long time.

    Hi
I saw a similar recipe on youtube (and it works with agar as well).
But I wonder why gelatin or agar don’t go bad. In the Youtube video she adds salt to the mixture, you add vodka.
Does that prevent the gel (out of basically food) to go bad?
