If you're planning to enjoy a few nights out in your backyard now that the weather is perfect, why not add a little flair with a simple DIY project? A clever and eco-friendly way to light up the space is by turning empty glass bottles into tiki torches.

Whether you're using old wine bottles, soda bottles, or any other glass container, this project is a fun way to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.  And the best part? You can decorate them to suit your style, making your backyard setup even more personalized and unique. We also have some cool ways to reuse plastic bottles, so don’t be too quick to throw things away!

You will need:

  • Empty glass bottles
  • Screwdriver
  • Hacksaw
  • Funnel
  • Lamp oil
  • Torch fuel
  • ¼-inch threaded rod
  • ½-inch screw in conduit connectors
  • ½-inch to 1-inch ground clamps

Take some time to plan out how many torches you’ll need for your space, and gather up your glass bottles accordingly. You can start saving them as you go, or even ask friends and family to pitch in with their empty bottles. Once you have your collection, it's time to get crafting—just be sure to handle the bottles and materials safely throughout the process. And when it’s time to light those torches, always follow safety guidelines and use them responsibly!

If you really enjoy the idea of fire and light and want to take it to a bigger scale, why not make use of the good weather to build yourself a fire pit?
