Turn a simple water bottle into an adorable piggy bank with this easy-to-follow craft project! Perfect for kids and families, this fun DIY craft encourages creativity, recycling, and teaches kids the value of saving money. With just a few craft supplies and a printable template, you can create a cute and functional piggy bank that’s as playful as it is practical!

Tutorial
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Get all your supplies ready, including a clean plastic water bottle, foam sheets, pipe cleaner, scrapbook paper, glue gun, scissors, and a printable piggy bank ears template.
Step 2: Make the Ears, Nose, Tail, and Legs
Print the ears template and cut out the pieces. Trace them onto pink craft foam (using regular foam for the ears and glitter foam for the inner ears). For the nose, trace the top of the water bottle cap onto the foam and cut it out. Use a black marker to add two little nostrils. For the tail, cut a 12-inch pipe cleaner in half, then curl it around a pencil to create a spiral. To make the pig's legs, cut four strips of craft foam, roll them up tightly, and glue them in place.
Step 3: Wrap the Bottle with Paper
Cut a piece of pink scrapbook paper to fit around your bottle, then wrap it around and glue it in place. Use a craft knife to create a cross shape in the paper where the coin slot will go.
Step 4: Attach the Ears, Nose, Tail, and Legs
Glue the foam ears to the top of the bottle, and add the glittery inner ears. Attach the nose to the bottle cap and the curly pipe cleaner tail to the back. Then glue the legs to the bottom of the bottle.
Step 5: Add the Finishing Touches
Add two googly eyes to the face, right between the ears and the nose. Now your piggy bank is ready for action!
This project is a perfect way for kids to repurpose plastic bottles and create their own cute and functional piggy bank. Plus, the best part is they get to decorate it however they want—whether it’s painting on extra details, adding felt ears, or just getting creative with all kinds of fun decorations.
