I have a confession. I’m a little obsessed with accent tables. Seriously, I have at least one in every room in my house…some rooms have more than three! I was redecorating recently and decided that I actually needed a new accent table – a sofa table to go behind my sofa. Don’t you just love those sofa tables? So, I started looking for them online, and they are pretty expensive. Even smaller accent tables will run you at least $50 at most department stores. What’s a better way? A DIY accent table, of course!
I found 18 really easy accent tables that you can make for way less than $50. Some of these can be made for less than $10, and they are all gorgeous. You can even make some of these with upcycled materials, and you know how much I love to upcycle. Just take a look at these creative ways to upcycle broken mirrors. Upcycling is so much fun and so frugal. You will never want to throw anything away again. Now, not all of these DIY accent tables are made with upcycled materials. Some of them require wood or other materials to build, but I promise you that they are all easy enough that you can build them in just one day.

1. DIY $12 Curvy Table
This curvy side table is gorgeous. Really, you would think this came from a high-dollar furniture store, but it’s a DIY accent table, and it’s one that you can make yourself for just $12. You just need one board to build it and then a few basic woodworking supplies like glue, sandpaper, screws, and paint. It comes together really easily, and when it’s finished, this one will seriously be your favorite table in the house.
2. DIY Sofa Table
If you need a sofa or console table, this is a great one to make. This little DIY table will only cost you about $30. That’s way less than what you would pay for it in the store, and this one is pretty easy to make. It’s got such a great rustic look to it, too, and it can be built with just a couple of boards and some basic tools. Once it’s finished, stain it whatever color you like, or if you want a great rustic look to match your other DIY farmhouse decor, go with white paint and distress it a bit with sandpaper.
3. DIY Accent Table From an Old Barrel

I love this little French accent table that you can honestly complete in an afternoon. You make your own paint concoction for this one, which makes it even cheaper to build. This requires an old table, and if you don’t have one, check your local thrift stores. I found one at Goodwill recently for just $3. The graphics are what make this table special, and they are so easy to do. This would look beautiful in your foyer or entryway, or you could turn it into an old-fashioned telephone table.
6. Geometric Copper Accent Table
This accent table has a copper pipe base that makes it absolutely gorgeous. Copper pipe is a bit expensive if you don’t have any on hand, but you don’t need much for this, so it’s still a pretty cheap table to build. If you bought a table with copper pipe, it would cost you about three times this much. This one has a great Himmeli base and is positively gorgeous when it is finished.
7. Metal Accent Table
If you are going for the industrial look, this little metal accent table is perfect. It’s really easy to make, and you can build the entire thing for less than $30 – that’s much less than anything like it in the stores. Plus, it has a lovely vintage look to it that is perfect for sitting rooms or dens. The top is actually an old silver platter, and the base is made from an old table base. Don’t worry if you can’t find a silver base; just paint the one that you have with a metallic silver paint.
8. DIY Rustic Square Table
You can build this rustic square side table for less than $25 and use it anywhere in the house. It would look beautiful as a nightstand and fits in perfectly with any of your DIY farmhouse décor. I love DIY nightstands, and this is a very easy one to build. You could also use it in the living room as an end table. It’s so cheap to build that you could make two and have a matching set! It’s so easy that it’s the perfect project for newbies, so even if you have never done a DIY project before, you can totally build this gorgeous little table.
9. Lovely DIY Sheet Music Accent Table
I love music and actually use musically inspired décor in my home all of the time. This little sheet music accent table would fit in perfectly in my den, and it’s super easy to build. You can do this with any table that you have on hand…remember to visit those thrift stores for great deals. You just decoupage the table with sheet music to give it a beautiful new look. You can find sheet music at thrift stores, too, and it’s really cheap.
10. Cheap And Easy $6 Accent Table
How about an accent table that you can build for less than $6? This twisty table will actually cost you less than $6 to build, and it’s a really unique table. You only need one board to build it, and if you have a board on hand, this one could actually be free. I love the design and how easy this one is to put together. You will spend more time cutting your boards than you will making them into this amazing little table.
11. DIY Gold And White Stenciled Table
Here is a wonderful table makeover that turns an old accent table into something that you would expect to see in high-dollar furniture stores. If you’re looking for an elegant table for the living room or den, this is it, and it’s much cheaper and easier to make than it looks. You just take an old table and paint it. You can finish this one off in an afternoo,n and if you have more than one table, spend the weekend painting and create an entire set of these.
12. DIY Gold And Marble Accent Table
If you have ever purchased a marble table, you know that they are super expensive. However, you can build your own for less than half the price of a new one. This gold and marble table is super easy to put together, and if you don’t have a slab of marble, you can totally do this out of wood with a little marbling and make it look authentic.
13. Nautical Accent Table
I love this nautical accent table – actually, I love anything to do with the coast, and this little table is super easy to make. You can do this with a really cheap side table. The Dollar Store has them for around $5 each. To make this, you just paint the side table blue or maybe white with a little distressing and then wrap the legs in sisal rope. The top has these great little finials with rope through them, and the overall look is gorgeous.

This one is so eas,y and it can be used indoors or out on the deck or patio. You just turn a large terra cotta planter upside down and use the base for the top of your table. paint and then wrap around some rope for accents, and you’re all finished.
17. Easy DIY Sofa Caddie
These sofa caddies are so useful, and they’re much easier to make than you may think. They are perfect for keeping drinks and things handy when you’re sitting on the sofa, and they come in really handy for using your laptop. They’re also really cheap to make and can be finished in an afternoon. These are perfect for smaller spaces, when you just don’t have room for a traditional end table. They slide under the couch to save space.
18. Target Knockoff Accent Table
Target isn’t necessarily an expensive store, but their accent tables are often a bit pricey. You can build this Target knockoff table for about a third of what one of those tables costs, and it looks so authentic! You need a pine board and a dowel to make this one, as well as general supplies and tools. It’s a great table for anywhere that you need a bit of storage.
