Ok, so you have to dust, right? Sometimes, though, the furniture polish that you use can cause quite a buildup and leave your furniture looking dull and feeling a bit tacky. There are a few different ways to remove this buildup and bring your furniture back to its original shine.

There are over-the-counter products that you can also buy that are designed to remove polish buildup, although they can tend to be a little expensive. You may want to try a few DIY methods before you buy something that costs nearly as much as the furniture itself.

  • First, you can just take Ivory brand dish soap and clean the furniture. Do this by only tackling a small area at a time. You have to rub the dish soap into the furniture and then take a dry towel and dry it completely before you move on to the next area.
  • You can also try some paint thinner, although it is very important that you try this on a spot that does not show. You want to be sure that it will not harm the stain or the furniture itself. Paint thinner is very effective in getting that waxy buildup off, and it is relatively inexpensive.

You can also just try using polishers that do not leave a waxy buildup. Furniture, soaps, and homemade polishes are a better idea if you want to avoid the wax that some furniture polishes will leave behind after a few uses.
