16 Adorable Knitted Christmas Socks and Gloves With Free Patterns

October 21, 2014 By Vanessa Beaty 1 Comment

Crafty with knitting needles and looking for an adorable, creative holiday project this year? There’s something for every taste here, and all of these projects are perfect for the holiday season.  The weather’s getting colder, and it’s just the time of year you want to snuggle into some cozy socks and get warm in front of the fireplace with some hot cocoa and cookies. Thanks to Drops Design these patterns are free!

It’s also the season of giving, and it can be tough to come up with exciting new gifts each year for friends and family.  But everybody needs socks, and during this cold time of year, knit socks are particularly welcome.  And how much more awesome are these handmade socks with gorgeous patterns than socks you would buy at the store?  A lot of people (frequently children) joke about not wanting socks for Christmas, but you can be sure that these creative socks will garner a totally different response!

These knit socks are perfect for everybody: men and women, girls and boys, and there is even a pattern for baby socks!  You’ll find complex, detailed patterns here with flowers, reindeer, hearts, snowmen, and more.  The Santa socks with the “hats” that drape off at the ankles are just adorable!  There are also a couple of patterns for matching mittens here.  Another very cute pattern is the “Eskimo” socks with buttons—these look almost like little boots!

Most of the patterns you see here are for knit socks in red and white, but you could easily change up the colors to suit the preferences of your recipients.  A lot of these patterns would also be adorable in blue and white, which could put a recipient in mind of ice and snow (blue socks may also go over better if you are gifting some of these to boys).

You can be sure if you make these beautiful socks this holiday season and give them to your friends and relations, you will receive some wonderful reactions!  Take some time to think about what your recipients would like—a simpler style or a more complex one—a style that obviously ties into Christmas or could be worn year-round.  So curl up in front of the fireplace with your knitting needles and some of these amazing patterns, and get knitting!
