Pom Pom Valentine’s Monster

If you haven’t noticed yet, I love making yarn pom poms. They are so simple, and always look so cute! I’ve used them to make pom pom flowers and pom pom flower bouquets.

I have even used them to make a pom pom rug! They are just one of the easiest and most versatile crafts you can create. So, of course, I had to include them in my Valentine’s Day crafting and this cute little pom pom monster was the result!

I chose to use pink and purple for my pom pom monster, but you can use any colors to create yours. They aren’t just for Valentine’s day, but great for any kids crafting project!

Can I Use Ready-Made Pom Poms?

If you prefer, you can pick up fuzzy pom poms at your craft store to use instead of making your own. I find that the yarn pom poms are easy to make, affordable, and so much softer than ones I find in craft stores, so, of course, I tend to make them. Pom poms are always nice to have in your craft stash, so pick up some extras just in case they are needed for this or other ideas.

If you decide to buy pom poms, you should check out these cool glittery pom poms on Amazon!

What Can I Use These Pom Pom Monsters For?

The better question might be what you can’t use them for! I love to add these to the top of a gift for the kids, or just to display on a shelf. You can use them in tons of fun ways!

  • Stick inside a glittery heart flower bouquet to gift at Valentine’s Day.
  • Sneak them into your kid’s lunchbox.
  • Display them on a shelf or mantle alongside this paper heart garland or burlap heart garland.
  • Make one for each child in your kid’s class at school and attach a simple note for Valentine’s Day.
  • Add them to a buffet table at your Valentine’s Day party.

How to Make a Pom Pom Valentine Monster

To create your pom pom, you will wrap yarn around the palm of your hand several times until you reach the desired thickness.

Next, you will cut the end of the yarn off, and gently remove the yarn from your hand, keeping it wound together.

Now, you will use a small piece of yarn to tie in the center of the yarn.

Cut through the loops on both sides of your yarn, and then fluff it out to create the pom pom shape. Once you have it fluffed, you can trim the sides to shape into a circle.
