Delicious Food Art: How to Create Yummy Apple Swan

Delicious Food Art: How to Create Yummy Apple Swan (Kids will love these)Want to really impress the heck out of your guests at a party?  Instead of serving up apples in a fruit bowl (boring!), make decorative, edible swans out of apples!  Learn how in a brief but thorough video tutorial by Grant Thompson on YouTube, “The King of Random.”

There are a number of steps involved in making the right cuts, so you will probably want to watch the video once, then get your apple, and sit down and watch it again and follow along step-by-step.  Be sure to hang on to the apple seeds, because they are going to be your swan’s eyes.  The result if you follow through properly and do everything right is a surprisingly sleek and graceful looking swan made out of apple bits.  It’s really amazing what you can do with food!

Apples have a tendency to turn brown quickly after you cut them.  Prevent that by squeezing a little lemon juice onto your sliced apple bits as you go (a pastry brush works well to apply it), or you can use Fruit-Fresh.  You could also try blanching them.  That way your apple swans will stay presentable!
